Ok... I need some help. I'm a choreographer who plans to do a project including several nas songs in fall/winter 06. the theme is the effect of poverty & adversity on the concept of death, heaven, & spirituality on inner city youth. nas' "heaven" is without a doubt going in the project, as is india arie's "beautiful place". i am curious if anyone has any ideas on other songs (preferably rap or r&b) which deal with similar themes as nas' heaven (by any artists). any help greatly appreciated!

Not necessarily all the same theme as heaven, but they all are commentaries on the stresses of living urban life or finding/losing spirituality/sense of one's self.

Re: my favorite Nas songs.... umm

Take it in blood is hands down my personal favorite nas song, i dont think it's his best song ever but its def my favorite, got to love it is also another great choice, slept on by most. Funny story, first time I heard it, was on a DJ Dollar Bill mixtape, and he had the rpms set a slightly faster than normal, so i got used to hearing it that way, so when i got it on lost tapes, it sounded too slow to me,It took about 2 mnths for me to adjust to the real speed of it

nice

i see u like Nas just as much as i do.
I heard Nas next album is going to have DJ Premier, Dr.Dre, Kanye West, Just Blaze, and Timberland... i don't really for Timberland lol
but DAMN DJ PREMIER IS MY FAVORITE PRODUCER!!! and since Nas in Def Jam now... HE HAVES KANYE WEST AND JUST BLAZE...but Dr.Dre is the best producer.... Nas should FIRE L.E.S. and Salaam Remi and bring back Pete Rock and Large Professor!!!!
